Making fencing more accessible
My goal is to make the ideas and concepts of fencing more accessible to everyone. I hope you take some time to explore the expanding map, connect concepts together, and take whatever is useful to you. All at no cost.
For those who want to go further than the map, I offer time to explore, discuss, and analyze foil fencing with you directly through 1:1 sessions. Connect with me to see how I can help you specifically.
What a meeting looks like
We can bounce ideas around, break down video of your bouts together, or just talk through where you're stuck. I can tailor our conversation to specifically what you're looking for. Sometimes the most useful thing I can offer is a creative solution you hadn't considered, or a resource or person who can take you further than I can. I'm still learning too, and I think that's part of what makes this useful.
Target audience
As I mentioned, the goal of foiledu is to help everyone who has an interest in foil fencing. I especially want to help competitive fencers who feel stuck and plateauing, because I know that frustration well. I also especially want to help those who may be returning to foil fencing after a break and want to compete again at a high level.
My story
Hi, my name is Tommy. I've been fencing in the US since 2015, casually at first. I took a break during covid and came back competitively over the last two years, right as I'm starting medical school. My path isn't the traditional one. I wasn't especially competitive at the y-14, cadet, or junior level as a kid, but I've been deeply involved in this sport for a decade, and I now compete nationally and internationally.
There's always someone better than you. I'm not at the olympic level, and I'm not claiming to be. What I can offer is my own experience, my own mistakes, and the story of getting back into a sport I love while building a career alongside it.
